Febraury 21, 2010

A lots happened the last few days...some I can talk about and some for another time as the saga unfolds I keep note of the animal nature of human beings  : (...Mainly still surviving the winter. It's been mild the last few days and the horses have been enjoying the first of the green from beneath the snow as it melts off. Of course with thawing snow somes the first of spring peeking thru and a taste of whats to come in the next month or so.Got to enjoy a outing on Sunday and had supper a few close friends. The meal was delicious especially the fresh mint jelly.Had never had this before and loved it! ♥

Went to Pembroke on Saturday  to look at the Marina and get a few pictures with my long time friend, Annie Harding. She is a published Poet from our area and is working on her latest book so needed some new material. We saw lots of fishing vessels and beautiful beach. The tide was up so got to hear and see the surf pounding on the rocks. I miss this now that I live in-land again. Made me a bit home-sick for my little beach at Short Beach in Yarmouth County where I used to spend my free time walking the coast in search of lost buoys and fresh herbs. Hoping to spend more time there once the weather warms up as the coast there is almost impossible to reach now that the wharf is gone and boats that once tied up there have moved down the coast to the Sandford wharf. This once well used road and the bait shacks have literally fallen into the sea so have to walk thru a snow covered field to reach it. Its ghostly to see and remember the once bustling little fishing community it once was.The once shining fish plant is abandoned with doors swinging in the wind and scavened equipment lays rusting on the water soaked floor. Sad...

........."Save our Cat"..........♥

Long time friend, Doreen Sauliner stands in front of her family's home. She along with many will lose their jobs because of the loss of the "Cat" ferry in Yarmouth,Nova Scotia.

Well, as most of my friends know I have been unemployed now for 9 months and still no sign of a job, not for lack of looking. Did work briefly for a wonderful resort, Trout Point Lodge in Kemptville Nova Scotia but because of a slow tourist season was let do prematurely so back on "EI" I goes. ( ...got lost over night in the woods, too but thats another story...)Trying to get back into school only to find out the course I wish to take maybe full  so will have to wait maybe another year to attend...crap...and time ticks on...Still doing the Volunteer Special Constable Investigating for Nova Scotia Provincal SPCA in Halifax which gives me lots of things to do while waiting for the right job to turn up.
Meanwhile, lots of other citizians here face the same problem .They will  not have a job and the possiblity of losing ALL they have worked for because of no work in this end of Nova Scotia to support the thousands that will be affected by the lost of our Cat Ferry to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. This ferry brings Tourists to the area in the Spring to Fall season to visit our Provience and take in the many festivals and sights in our beautiful Town and country side. Its amazing how the local politicians have let this happen to our small struggling town. For the last twenty years tons of money has been spent on up-grading and redoing the public areas.
Still the locals are trying to approach Goverment in hope of saving the ferry. Lots turned up today to make a music video that will be sent to Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Hopefully he likes Cats and will respond favorable when he sees others want this "Cat:" to stick around...

...as the Agate rolls......

For those who know me well realize I love to collect semi-precious and not so semi-precious stones. Friends often traveling abroad bring me back beach stones making me the best person to 'buy" for... : ) No T-shirts, please. I would rather have a piece of their vacation paradise! I have them from Dominican to  Arizionia to Newfoundland...ect. Natural Quartz and Amethyst crystals are my favorites and just today I purchased my self a lovely Valentine for me...A Amethyst geode ♥
Agates and beach glass is another favorite and I can spend hours looking thru the stoney beaches looking for both. I love the way the sun catches the glimmer and its like I've found a hidden treasure just for me. Nova Scotia beaches have lots to offer for treasure hunting agate lovers.

Surviving February 2010

After weeks of blah weather yesterday was a basking +5 celius degrees so braved out into the frozen world for some exercise and fresh air. Having lived here all my life I love the ocean so went to the Churn for a walk along the shore then to the light house stopping at the John's Cove beach for a walk on the beach & into the forest there. Found some lovely old trees scarred by time and weather. Its amazing how they live thru the cold winds and salt air with our coast often under seige of stormy winter weather. Others were out enjoying the day with their dog and I seen lots of wild life roughing it out in the bush, was accually able to get a picture of a big doe who calmly looked back at me a hundred feet away with out blinkning an eye! Very brave ♥
Hoping the ground hog was wrong and I'm able to begin enjoying more of the beaches soon!

practicing...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gQfBmqQlAQ

I've been trying for years to learn to play guitiar. Its always been my dream sense a child to pick up a instrument and strum out a melody so beautiful that tears would well in the eyes pof anyone in hearing distance...For 2 years I took weekly lessons. My teacher, Mike, was very patient with me., going over the chords and technics that make music. Alas this is not to be...after many years I still can only chord and strum basic notes. I don't seem to have what it takes to be a super star... : (
Still I practice hoping someday I will sound at least decent enough to play for friends...
Please be kind when you watch the video...♥

...♥... waiting for Spring to come...

Another cold day...not too much to do but sit and read and eat... Cooked a leg of Venison a friend gave me for supper along with a apple crisp. My dog drooled by my side till I finally gave him a chunk to chew on. I'm sure me smiled up at me ♥ I really have to think about re-starting my walking schedule if I keep up much longer. That or get snow shoes for the horses...
Seems everyone has the same complaints about the weather. I wish I could turn up the heat outside for just long enough to have a pleasant  swim in the lake...Aaaaaaaa!!!!
