Peace- an Entity

"There is no trust more sacred than the one the world holds with children. There is no duty  more important than ensuring that their rights are respected, that their welfare is protected, that their lives are free from fear and want and that they grow up in peace."
~Kofi Annan

Many things I remember as a teenager. One was the constant challenges to be like class mates who were out every night partying, racing around in cars and fighting for territory in our small 1970's town. Being brought up in  Catholic home with older women, every night was vespers at the church, supper with the Sisters or a visit to Brother Antonio's for a talk on God/vespers with the Fransican Friars..
I felt very left out as even my closes friends were caught up in dating, sneaking out after curfew, telling the tales next day at school.

I decided to try and attract a angel to help me thru this time of growing turmoil. Many prayers were said for a understanding enity that could explain why the 1970's world was so full of drastic change. Drugs, war, murder in the streets, people  trying to have proverse young men and women into the sex trade. ...I know...it goes on today...but when your a teenager its all too close and real...

My enity first showed up in the refuge where I volenteered after school. I was up stairs going into a room used for storage for the friars. It appeared as a voice at first behind me in the hall. I turned to see a dark shadow. I wasn't afraid. I asked its name.
It replied that I had called it to come. It was my Peace I had hoped for.
It spoke for a few minutes about what I had been worried about till  one of the other refuge came up the stairs, screamed and Peace disappeared. Many questions were asked about what had happened but none explained as I didn't know what had happened. I thought only I could see the spector.
It wasn't till a few days later, Peace showed up again. I was in the vespers room alone ,sitting quiety , when it appeared. It spoke of Wisdom and tried to show me what I could do to help myself thru the time of change. My favorite quotes came from the book of Wisdom in the old testament about the importance of woman ,judgement and the expectation that we are suppose to be protected  by the men we love, not exploited.
Peace spoke of silence when in worry, finding a internal center to look out at the situations I was experiencing to see what the next step might be to avoid a unwanted problem. Peace told me it could stay with me always, all I had to do was want it.
Many times I have called  on Peace in my life. It appears as a quiet in the storms that pass. I watch as the clouds roll by, finding calm in its arms and un-ending security.
My Peace is always with me...

Wisdon 3:12-"Wisdom is brilliant, she never fades. By those who love her, she is readily seen, by those who seek her, she is readily found."

Peace, peace, to those far and near,”
says the Lord. “And I will heal them.”
