I was taking the sun-shine and a cup of tea early this morning when I noticed my crystal ball on my dressing stand had caught the rising sun. I watched it for a few minutes, full of light with a brilliant radiance glowing around it. I have used one for friends who wanted scrying for years and I'm always amazed the 'light' they bring : )

Here's a bit of history about them...

The History of the Crystal Ball

We have probably all seen a crystal ball at one time or another and know they are associated with psychics. Psychics use crystal balls to foresee or foretell future events or to discover hidden knowledge, usually by the interpretation of omens or through the aid of supernatural powers. In other words, crystal balls are used as an aid to clairvoyance. But how did it all start?
Celtic druids are thought to be the first to have used crystals for the purpose of divination. Later, people — such as fortunetellers, wizards, seers, gypsies and psychics — began using crystals to see the future during medieval times in Europe. Early crystal balls were sometimes made from beryllium aluminum silicate because it was transparent, but they were later made out of rock crystal. Christians of the 5th century thought that evil spirits and witches inhabited crystal balls and that any message divined from them came from the devil. However, by the 17th century, German priests would often put a crystal ball on the altar during prayers.
The act of “seeing” things — past, present or future — is called “scrying.” When scrying is done through the use of crystals, a crystal ball or another transparent medium, it is called “crystal gazing” or “crystallomancy.” Some psychics claim to see images in the crystal ball, while others believe that the transparent quality of the gemstone helps them clear their minds sufficiently so that information about the future becomes apparent to them. This information may then be used to make important decisions concerning finances, love, business, travel and relationships.
Throughout history, children were often used as intermediaries in scrying. It was believe that they were pure of spirit and more open to communication from other worlds. Children were also considered less likely to try and defraud people.
Though crystal balls are now used by psychics and entertainers, they were used at one time by a scientist named Dr. John Dee, who lived in England in the 1500s. As a consultant to Queen Elizabeth I — as well as a geographer, mathematician, astrologer and astronomer — he used crystal balls in his work involving divination, Hermetic philosophy and alchemy. However, by 1824, a law was passed in England making divination illegal, punishable with three months of hard labor. A quartz ball that once belonged to Dee now resides in the British Museum.
Scrying devices, such as mirrors, have been mentioned in literature for hundreds of years, including Geoffrey Chaucer’s “The Canterbury Tales” and Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” and “Measure for Measure.” Roger Bacon, who wrote in the 13th century, mentioned crystal balls in several of his stories, allowing characters to see what was happening in faraway places. In more recent times, J.R.R. Tolkien includes crystal balls called “palatirs” in “The Lord of the Rings.” These crystal balls allow the characters to see and communicate with one another from long distances.
In England during Victorian times, something called the “garden gazing ball” became popular. A version of a crystal ball, a garden gazing ball was a colored-glass globe that was supposed to reflect the beauty of the garden and produce a peaceful and calm state of mind for those who gazed into it. Perhaps just the state of mind that might allow them to “see” things they wouldn’t otherwise be able to see.
Crystal balls, because they are so recognizable, are often used on stage as props by magicians or mentalists. This type of performance is called “crystal gazing” or C.G. Claude Alexander, also known as “Alexander the Crystal Seer” was one of the most famous performers who used a crystal ball for this type of act.
Crystals have been used by many different cultures throughout history for the purpose of healing. The basis for crystal therapy is the belief that a crystal gives off vibrations that affect the flow of energy surrounding it, which can help resolve issues with the body or its aura. Though people of the past believed that crystal balls were inhabited by spiritual beings, it is now more commonly believed that the vibrations of the crystals interact with the electromagnetic field that surrounds our bodies, perhaps helping us to heal or perhaps helping us to “see.”

I was feeling well this morning so I took walk down town early to go to the Farmers market. The Main st of Yarmouth was busy, with people hurrying to work. I watched them greet each other on the street from the park bench on Alma street corner happily. We do have a pleasant friendly town, I thought. The Nova Star ferry traffic was just starting to emerge. And Tim Horton's was full of coffee drinkers taking in the sight of the tourist looking back at them. After wandering down to the bank for cash, I stopped to say hello to some old friends I hadn't seen in years. I realize that country living had separated me a bit from old aquaintances... It was good to just look around and see the 'old crowd'.

Many things I remember as a teenager. One was the constant challenges to be like class mates who were out every night partying, racing around in cars and fighting for territory in our small 1970's town. Being brought up in Catholic home with older women, every night was vespers at the church, supper with the Sisters or a visit to Brother Antonio's for a talk on God/vespers with the Fransican Friars..
I felt very left out as even my closes friends were caught up in dating, sneaking out after curfew, telling the tales next day at school.

I decided to try and attract a angel to help me thru this time of growing turmoil. Many prayers were said for a understanding enity that could explain why the 1970's world was so full of drastic change. Drugs, war, murder in the streets, people trying to have proverse young men and women into the sex trade. ...I know...it goes on today...but when your a teenager its all too close and real...

My enity first showed up in the refuge where I volenteered after school. I was up stairs going into a room used for storage for the friars. It appeared as a voice at first behind me in the hall. I turned to see a dark shadow. I wasn't afraid. I asked its name.
It replied that I had called it to come. It was my Peace I had hoped for.
It spoke for a few minutes about what I had been worried about till one of the other refuge came up the stairs, screamed and Peace disappeared. Many questions were asked about what had happened but none explained as I didn't know what had happened. I thought only I could see the spector.
It wasn't till a few days later, Peace showed up again. I was in the vespers room alone ,sitting quiety , when it appeared. It spoke of Wisdom and tried to show me what I could do to help myself thru the time of change. My favorite quotes came from the book of Wisdom in the old testament about the importance of woman ,judgement and the expectation that we are suppose to be protected by the men we love, not exploited.
Peace spoke of silence when in worry, finding a internal center to look out at the situations I was experiencing to see what the next step might be to avoid a unwanted problem. Peace told me it could stay with me always, all I had to do was want it.
Many times I have called on Peace in my life. It appears as a quiet in the storms that pass. I watch as the clouds roll by, finding calm in its arms and un-ending security.
My Peace is always with me...
I'm stuck inside today working on a poem...Seems that I'm feeling a bit better and have been accused of walking too far from home yesterday. I went early morning for about 2 1/2 miles then again in the afternoon venturing down to frost park for a bit of sunshine to watch the children playing around the fountain... whats wrong with that! Today I'm stuck in! I am working on a poem for my AllPoetry.com. Its coming slowly as I haven't thought of writing in MONTHS! Hoping my creativity will return...

I've been off work on sick leave sense late June and don't look like I'll be getting back anytime soon. My symptoms are still there except the bloating is gone for the most part. I'm still very weak and trying to walk everyday for 30 minutes or so. Its all I can do to drag myself around the block. I did see the doctor on Friday and my prognoses doesn't look that good for getting there anytime soon.
I decided its time to work on short stories and poems again. I sent a fellow tenant out to buy me some new pencils and a work book to pass the time. I'm hoping my past dragons will speak and the light will send words to tell the tale.....life to the dragons will return....
Well...I;m back on-line, for now, but have spent most of the summer sick with a un-known infection in my stomach lining. I started back in June just after I went back to work at the ferry terminal. By July I was off and I still am taking tests( ultra sound, cat scan ,blood work, ect) but no answer yet. My stomach was swelled so bad at one point that I looked pregnant! Its gone down a bit now but nothing fits right.
The kids have been great and have taking me out many times for shopping, hospital visits and a family wedding at Ellenwood park. Most of my time has been spent sleeping in the house with 0 energy.

In my depressed state, I tried to make a visit to see my 1st husband in prison.as I hadn't seen him for 7 years. He's there on a life sentence with no hope of ever getting out...just to make me feel better. What did I find out? He;s not there anymore....probably died and me not told. Crap. I decided to wear his ring in protest. I was supposed to be notified if he died or was executed.
We were married back in 1977 on my birthday. A month later he was catch and incarcerated. I had known him sense a infant and he was there most of the time taking care of me with my Great Grand Mother Adele sense birth.
When I was 6 years old and he was 10 years, he was kidnapped from the apartment he lived in with a guardian and not seen for years. He was made a part of a cult in New York State that preyed on children. All the member were kept drugged, molested and afraid to tell anything as noone could be trusted in the small out-skirted community they lived in. When he escaped at 15 years old, he spent most of the time on the street till he found his way back to Yarmouth1971, hiding out with people in Yarmouth. In A year later , we found each other again. And spent many happy times filled with fun with my friends. When I turned 16, we decided we would get married.
After, We found out he was accused of killing 40 people at a party in Albany with poison plus a child boiled alive. It wasn't til we were married that the law catch up with him as the wedding certificate was registered with Canadian Goverment.
Did he do it? I'm not sure if the person I knew would or not....
So Bobby James, I miss you still...

On July1st 2015 Canada Day will once again be celebrated in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.

I’ll be in Canada in Nova Scotia, waving around a maple leaf with a bunch of other Nova Star workers at the Yarmouth Ferry Terminal (and a fellow Americans) saying hello to those who venture both sides of the border to see your wonderful country. The Nova Scotia province will celebrate flags, fire-works, cake and music festivals of all kinds! The Nova Star ferry has planned a celebration for travellers to show appreciation to our south of the border friends.

As a birthday tribute, here are a few things I love about my home country

1) Canadians really are friendly and fun. That’s not just a stereotype, it’s actually true. Canadians are more polite, more laid back, easier to get along with, and they almost never sue anyone. Atlantic Canada, where I’m from, can be compared to the American south for its hospitality.

2) It’s gorgeous. There’s a lot of land up here! That’s because the entire population of Canada is about equal to the entire population of California. So when you’re looking for unspoiled nature and you can’t get to Alaska, try coming up here.

3) The French. Acadians and Quebec's alike they bring culture. The pockets of French communities throughout the Maritimes and Canada give it character and flair.

4) Poutine. Speaking of the French, have you tried poutine? French fries golden smothered with gravy and mossa cheese, yummy.

5) The Newfoundlanders- My ancestors in my family tree...coming to NS in the early 1900's. If you want to meet the kindest, funniest, and most talented people in North America, travel to the island of Newfoundland. If you have lots of time on your hands go in the winter and you may get stuck there drinking beer and listening to local stories at a village pub for months.

6) It’s clean. Almost everyone I know who’s traveled to Canada says, “I can’t believe how clean it is!” This is because no one litters here. Throwing a wrapper out a window or dropping trash on the ground is akin to frowned upon. Not cool, and not done. And while there may be far more important issues to be so uptight about, it does make for a clean enviroment.

On my last day of High School, I was blessed with a scholarship to NSCC. I arrived to their office full of excitement and good intention to meet with Mr Avis, the councller there. He had looked over my marks to see what classes I would be best suited for. He suggested a mechanical trade and asked me to join his elite group of understudies for a surveillance course, on the sly...I said yes and the rest is history...to those who NO... a puny : )

At my ' graduatiojn' he asked me what I most wanted to be. I told him I was already in contract with God, he laughed, knowing my past, and agreed destiny would allow many adventures. After years now working as a officer with the Justice system, I'm thankful I lived in a country who believes. Not only in the multi-culture people here but that there is a Divine Creation to have faith in.
Outside the country has become alive with trees budding out , flowers blooming and other creature bring their young into a new world. My walks are filled with wild birds busily making nests and calling mates to help. The deer have their young out browsing with them every morning in the dawning of the day. Inside my home I've been enjoying the house plants for days, waiting to get back to work. I noticed they respond to the weather just like wild plants in the woods/fields. This one is opening up after a rather wet few days here in the country. The green Goddess decided to make a appearance for me among the leaves, to remind me that no matter where we are, we are loved and cared for just like the wild beings of our earth. Loving the golden crown ♥

I was on a woods walk along the Digby/Yarmouth line the other day and come upon a large ridge of exposed white/ mauve crystal boulders about 200 feet from north to south exposed to the sun. It was beautiful to see in the natural sun light. The area is a well known geologist site for amethyst , clear quartz and beryl because of ancient volcanic activity in the area. Even amethyest sand appears in the local lakes. My walk to the local spring for a jug of water was lovely with lots of wild life in the wood. Deer, partridge, porcupine, raccoons and wild cats not to mention the hundreds of song birds now build their nests to raise young.
Whisper is still crunching though the snow on her way to pasture these days. Her nights have been spent in her barn with minus 20 nights. She's had all the hay she could eat to help with energy, keeping warm and condition. So far she has kept her weight on and not too many days left to winter. Soon Spring will add grass back to her diet.
I've been all too tired of shoveling snow, watching TV and needing to write when it's all I can do is think of something different for supper. Hope your winter is keeping you happy, too!
Life's been busy these last few weeks with all the snow and shoveling to do. I did have help from a neighbor once with his tractor to clear the driveway. My horse Whisper, has been getting out a few hours on nice days for exercise. She doesn't appreciate the stall stay days. I've been going through all my VHS tapes and watching oldies but goodies.
Looking to Spring and nicer weather for walking...as for now, the exercise bike is all I have to look forward to.

I've always loved stones. As a child I spent much of my spare time wondering the fields looking at the stone walls and boulders left by those people before me who cleared the rough stony Nova Scotia soil to make it there home. Weathering of stones are fascinating also. With icy storms, wind swept beaches and fields and the rocks of Metamorphic Rocks/ Sedimentary Rocks its a natural art exhibition!

Erosion is the main physical agent responsible for stone weathering. Particular emphasis is placed on the effects of wind and water. Erosion occurs in windy regions with sandy terrain, but in urban areas it is extremely rare and is often confused with other forms of deterioration. The problem of condensation on surfaces and in pores is extensively discussed, in relation to pore shape and size. Physical effects dominate in the smallest pores, and solution effects in the largest ones. Small veins in the stone rise, increase because of pressure , freezing-thawing cycles and micro meteorological conditions favorable for the soaking of monuments are discussed. A final section is devoted to the dissolution of stones and the formation of black crusts as a consequence of the way the stone is washed out or simply wet by water. The intensity of rainfall is important in activating or removing the dry pollutant deposits that form on monuments, especially during the dry periods characteristic of the Mediterranean climate. Condensation plays a minor role compared with rainwater. However, the porosity, geometrical shape and exposition of the stone are also important factors which can characterize different local balances and, consequently, the form of weathering.

(Drilled hole in stone found in Overton area, Yarmouth County.)
Some thing I come across quite often on my 'looks arounds' are drilled holes in rocks and boulders. Often they are on the top of the stone, for what,I often wonder... A flag? Was these used for measuring distance with some ancient tool or for making territory for Native people.
Seems these have been found all over the globe. What do you think?

For the last four years, I have had my horses living on my land in a run-in shed year round. This included winter weather. I am now down to one mare that is in good condition and spending her time out.

In winter, as the weather gets colder, I increase her feed, oats, to double,as keeping a good body weight is important to fuel body heat and she gets all the haylage she can eat.Link for feeding info Fresh water is supplied daily. She has a natural hair coat, which I do not clip to help her keep body heat. Her days are spent standing at the top of the field, looking over to the neighbors as they are building a new house. She goes into her shed to eat her hay and rest. She also has access to natural field with bushes, fir trees, a pond and four inches of un-eaten grass from summer. Wintering out helps to keep them healthier because they breathe fresh air and can adjust to the temperature changes on a regular basis. It also encourage lots of movement and exercise to keep warm; this is how horses keep warm in the wild.

Things to remember when wintering out-

1-If your horse is wintering outdoors in a temperate winter climate is careful of rain. Wet cold is far less tolerable than dry cold, and as well as ensuring that there is access to some form of shelter such as a shed, to allow the horse to get out of the elements.
2-Clean out your horse's hooves well. Add a layer of non-stick cooking spray or petroleum jelly to your horse's hooves; this will prevent balls of ice and snow from forming in the hooves.
3-Groom your horse. A dandy brush and short curry comb is best. This is not only good for warming the horse's muscles, but serves as an excellent warm-up workout for you too.
4- If your riding, take care about where you choose to ride. Pitfalls for riding during winter are varied depending on whether you're riding in snow or in more temperate muddy, cold temperatures. Things to watch out for include:
•Deep snow, especially where it conceals holes, tree wells, and crevices where your horse could slip down.
•Ice. Any ice is potentially dangerous as your horse has no grip or traction.
•Mud. While a little mud is fine, a lot of mud can cause the horse to become bogged, or to trip. Mud can also conceal objects that might harm your horse. Large areas of mud are best avoided.
•Wet slopes. Take care riding a horse down a wet slope, as it is easy to lose grip, especially when going fast, and moving over wet stony or rocky areas.
•Never canter or gallop your horse in snowy, muddy, icy, or slick terrain.

If your horse is kept inside all winter be aware of possible winter ills. Just like us, horses get sick during winter and it's important to know what to be on the lookout for, and how to manage the problems that human intervention can cause.
•Horses are susceptible to respiratory illnesses during winter. The ammonia build-up, mold, and dust inside barns and stables can bring on a variety of respiratory illnesses. Do your best to prevent this by ensuring adequate ventilation and giving your horse plenty of outdoor opportunities to breathe in fresh air. Clean out stalls regularly.
•Horses are also susceptible to skin conditions during winter, such as rain-rot, bed itch, ringworm, lice, and infected scratches. Keep the horse clean, groomed, and medicated appropriately. Be careful not to blanket a wet horse or to use blankets that do not breathe but cause moisture build-up. See your vet promptly for treatment of skin ailments.

When we enter herein with all humility, let God the Almighty One enter into this circle, by the entrance of an eternal happiness, of a divine prosperity, of a perfect joy, of an abundant charity, and of an eternal salutation. Let all the demons fly from this place, especially those who are opposed unto this work, and let the angels of peace assist and protect this circle, from which let discord and strife fly and depart. When I lived in Short Beach, the neighbour 'down the road' was constantly at war with Japanese Knot Weed. He cut it off at the ground level only to have it grow back twice as fast in a month. He hired a tractor in early Spring to dig it up by the roots only to have it come back in the Fall. He even poisoned it plus his well and still it grew...one day he asked me what I would do to get rid of it. I told him to buy some pigs as they would eat it plus any roots. It would take a year and he would have two good size pigs to butcher or pets, whatever the 'wife' decided. He laughed.

I did add he could start eating it himself but he didn't like greens. He still have Knot Weed growing 15 years later on him property and he still waves to me when I pass...

Burdock is a plant native to most of the habituated world and has been used for medicine, food and ground cover sense Adam ate the apple. My horse always manages to find a plant in her pasture , just to give me something to do as she nibbles her oats in the mornings. The plants must be at least 3 years old to have a nice size edible root but the young leaves are a very tasty green most of the growing season.

Alder is a common tree that grows almost everywhere in North America. It was once known for its nutritional value among the Native people. It is a member of the Birch family and is a tree that likes to live near water, quite often, so close that its roots are partially exposed by the flow of a river. Along with the edible inner bark,it produces some long and hanging almost red/purple female cones along with pale green/purple male catkins.

Its Latin name is Alnus Glutinosa, the latter part of its name probably stems from the the young buds ands leaves being fairly sticky when young as Glutinosa translates to stickiness!

At first glance it may not appear to have anything of use to the forager, but on closer inspection, it is actually a very valuable tree.

Medicinally the Alder is very astringent and the bark can be used as an anti inflammatory, a tea made from the inner bark of smaller branches or the dried buds and chewing small amounts may help relieve Diarrhoea and a tea made of the bark can be gargled against a sore throat. Overdoing it may cause vomiting however and using dried bark is best.

Alder bark treated
inflammations, rheumatism, and diarrhea. Bags filled with heated alder leaves
helped with chronic skin diseases and burns. A gargle made from leaves and bark
cured mouth ulcers and soothed tonsillitis. Alder oil and essence
resonate with the Muscular System and can relieve stiffness and damp diseases,
enabling us to move forward with flexibility and comfort.
Most parts of the tree can been used to create a natural yellow dye and it is brilliant for making charcoal as it burns with an intense heat.

To make sure you have identified Alder correctly, there are a few helpful key features. most obvious is that it will have both male catkins and female cones on at the same time (as above) The male catkins look almost similar to that of hazel sometimes smaller, whilst the female organs look similar to tiny open pine cones but are approx 2cm in size. Another helpful clue is the orange lichen that grows on the bark. It's leaves look similar to that of hazel, with a much less pronounced tip, in fact it almost looks blunt and square like. Of course a huge give away is its proximity to water!

Early spring the tree will produce catkins, that some say are edible. Certainly the Red alder of the USA is edible as is all wild varieties. There road side tree is possibly a different variety of alder or it could be due to its sheltered location, be in a more advanced stage of spring growth. On the left is the town Alder catkin, the right is the "wild" Alder

Fresh both are very astringent and unappetising , the wild catkins much firmer.
I would give both the same treatment, simmering in changes of water until the yellow that leaches from them reduces. therefore reducing the astringency. However at this point, I thought it better to concentrate solely on the 'wild' catkins, seeing as i was unable to be sure that the town one was the same Alnus Glutinosa and in so be pointless to experiment with as not many people would have access to the same! Anyway continuing with the wild catkins once boiled in changes of water I thought a good test of its edibility would be to dry and then grind to a flour for use. As there was only a hand full of each the amount of flour produced was little, so enabling me to make something worthwhile, I added an equal amount of Rye flour, shaped it into a small biscuit round after adding water and baked it.

The resulting cake was fairly pleasant. It had the texture of (and you will only understand this if you are a dog owner) a dog treat!..Perhaps a Bonio??, that's not to say it had a meaty taste, but the texture was gritty and bland, however more pleasant than expected. It still retained a hint of bitterness that lingered but not unpleasant. More like the bitterness of unsweetened coco powder (if you have ever tried that!) On the whole, considering its questionable pallatibility, It came out quite well! in fact much tastier than flour I have attempted to produce from Cattail roots so I was happy with the results!! A success almost, I just hope that the nutritional benefits are similar to its American cousin, Id hate to think id wasted everybody's time!
The five-pointed star or pentagram is one of the most potent, powerful, and persistent symbols in human history. It has been important to almost every ancient culture, from the Mayans of Latin America, to India, China, Greece, and Egypt. It has been found scratched on the walls of Neolithic caves, and in Babylonian drawings, where it marks the pattern the planet Venus makes on its travels- a secret symbol of the Goddess Ishtar. Scriptures, especially Hebrew, are abundant with references to pentagrams. So, why does this symbol have such a sinister reputation today?
The Pentagram in the Ancient World
The earliest pentagrams were rough diagrams found scratched into stone age caves. While they are believed to have some spiritual significance, the meaning of the star-shape to early humans is a mystery. In the civilizations that followed, it held various meanings, usually astronomical and religious. Pentagrams served to mark directions in Sumerian texts, and represented the five visible planets. Later, it was the sign of the planet Venus and the goddess.
According to the Greek mathematician and philosopher Pythagoras, five was the number of man, because of the fivefold division of the body, and the ancient Greek division of the soul. According to Pythagoras, the five points of the pentagram each represent one of the five elements that make up man: fire, water, air, earth, and psyche. (energy, fluid, breath, matter, and mind; also liquid, gas, solid, plasma, and aethyr, or spirit) The Pythagoreans held the pentacle sacred to Hygeia, the Goddess of healing, whose name (HGIEiA) was an anagram in Greek for the elements water, earth, spirit, fire, and air.
This particular symbolism has persisted for centuries, and has greatly influenced theologies of diverse traditions. Early Christians wore the pentagram as an emblem, possibly to represent the wounds of Christ, or possibly due to connections between early Christians and the Pythagorean mysteries.* Later, the pentacle was important to many doctrines of esoteric Medieval and Renaissance belief systems- alchemy, kabbalah, and Ceremonial magic.
The Pentacle and Magick
Renaissance-era ritual magicians, like the Greeks, used the Pentagram as a microcosm of the human body. The practice of Ritual Magic was used to create a state of closeness with god through the use of symbols and rituals to imitate the divine state. It was believed that like affects like, that the connection between the world of symbols and the world of actions could also be manipulated for evil purposes. One of these magicians, Giordano Bruno, warned of such misuse of the powerful pentacle by Black magicians. (The pentagram is still central to the practice of ritual magic, and is used in the foundation of many of its rituals.)
In the Jewish kabbalistic tradition, which borrows many Pythagorean ideas, the pentagram represents the five upper sephiroth on the Tree of Life- five numbers, being indivisible by any but themselves, which represent pure archetypal forces: justice, mercy, wisdom, understanding, and transcendent splendor.
Christian Pentagram?
Christian Kabbalists of the renaissance were especially enamored of the pentagram, which they viewed as a mystical proof of the divinity of Christ – to them, it symbolized Christ as the Holy Spirit manifest in the flesh. A favorite gematric feat was to add the Hebrew letter Shin (symbolizing fire and the holy spirit of Pentecost) to the Biblical four letter name of God (YHVH, most commonly [and incorrectly] pronounced ‘Jehovah’) yielding YHShVH- Y’heshua, or Jesus. (There is a secret biblical connection, as well, in the name of the Christian holiday of Pentecost- the day the Holy Spirit descended on the apostles of Jesus is one of many geometrical ‘proofs’ in the New Testament disguised as stories)

There are many connections between the pentagram and Christianity. Before the cross, it was a preferred emblem to adorn the jewelry and amulets of early Christians (followed by an ‘x’ or a phoenix). The pentagram was associated with the five wounds of Christ, and because it could be drawn in one continuous movement of the pen, the Alpha and the Omega as one. It was also an expression of a secret Gnostic heresy, found hidden here and there throughout Christian history- a symbol of Isis/Venus as the secret goddess, the female principle. The most notable instance of this symbolism is in the Arthurian Grail romances, which are Gnostic and kabbalistic teachings disguised as tales of knightly quests.
The pentacle as a symbol of the feminine principle was was embodied by the rose. The small, five petaled roses found in many Gothic cathedral’s ornamentation are not-so-secret pentagrams.
I received a Christmas card from the former board members/president of Yarmouth SPCA,
Tony and Mavis yesterday. Their card to me found them well, moved to a new
home and just back from an adventure in Hawaii where they visited volcano's by helicopter.
How exciting! Also my friend's Lyle and Martha have been in touch as they have moved back closer to me in Maine. Plans are in the air for a possible visit in the New Year. Two Christmas parties loom in the near future, too, and my pagan friends have special rites for their traditional holiday blessings for me to attend, also.
Gifts have arrived already from my friend, "Sebastian" and dinner is planned... alone together...
I'll be spending my holiday time with my grown children and friends. Its a busy time filled with loving friends. Hoping all is well for my fans here and your days are filled with stars. Thank you for your constant patronize and comments/messages!

Lovingly,
When bears come into a residential area they are usually looking for food.
Bears like to eat many of the same foods we enjoy, so we need to be careful
about how we handle food and food waste to minimize the odours that attract
bears.
When a bear smells food odours coming from a green cart, garbage container,
or even a barbecue, the bear regards this as a convenient source of food and
it will return to the site again and again. Not only is this annoying for us,
it means the bear will become dependent on people for food and may
become invasive and destructive.
