Great Grand-Mère Adele's Yellow Peasoup
I have many loving memories of my Great Grand Mother Adele. She was a loving woman who taught me about life with wonderful stories of the "Back-Land" in Plymouth, her Grand Father's sea voyages and growing up in the late 1800's. She was often home at lunch time when I arrived from my schoo which wasl across the street from our hous in South End Yarmouth. She would have a quick snack prepared to eat so I could hurry back for a afternoon of study. One of my favorite was peasoup with the whole yellow peas that had to be soaked over night and cooked the next day.Bacon was used for flavor instead of ham in this dish giving it a full aroma/flavor of the old country kitchens. It is a hearty meal best with hot biscuits loaded with fresh butter ♥
Great Grand-Mère Adele's Yellow Peasoup
3 TBSP cooking oil( I use olive)
1/4 LB Bacon( slices or chopped)
1 onion sliced
2 carrots sliced thin
2 cups Yellow Peas ( whole or split)
Water to Cover
NOTE- If using whole yellow peas be sure to soak over night : )
In a large pot place oil, onion and bacon. Cook ,stirring, till onion is browned, then add carrots. Cook for 2 minutes then add 6 cups of water and yellow peas. Cover and simmer over medium-low heat until peas break down for 2 to 4 hours, checking regularly incase more water needs to be added. Finished soup should be thick consistency depending on your personal taste ♥.

Quest Divine
A Poem by Me
Quest Divine
I read what no Man sees...
a vision comforts me,
... of the name on the rock,
long has it lived in my soul...
Steps echo the past...
sending light to guide,
knowing of purpose fills my heart,
as I walk to the Well beneath the Tree...
Sweet water stands to taste its wine...
from the cup my lips reveal,
O Moon,O Sun together as One,
Fruits of the Mystery combined...
Turning,spiraling,twisting thoughts...
lead straight to my shadowed Quest,
hidden in mind's mangled clutter,
as stillness smooths the Waves...
Tame to calm the Beast with-in...
centre is found with recouncil,
now before the Stone I stand,
to feel the glow that Odin seeked...
The sword which from the stone I pull...
its tip gleams the hints of mica,
the knowing of Self fills my heart,
the gift is mine Divine...

Sunny October
So far October has been beautiful. We have experienced in the last few days a massive amount of rain but skies soon cleared and the Sun warmed the ground again.
I've been spending my spare time walking the dog and taking in the beauty of the Fall colours around the Lake Darling area. There are lots of birds, including geese, now starting to flock for the long migration south. Their song fill the air and my heart as I watch them take flight across the lakes and fields.
My Garden is still providing carrots, broccilli rod, beets, swiss chard and a few late flowers like marigolds. Tiny Tim tomatoes are still riping in the green=house to give a nice touch to my late lunches. Ahhhhh! To enjoy now as soon snow will probably abound...

Quote
"A path is only a path, and there is no affront, to oneself or to others, in dropping it if that is what your heart tells you . . . Look at every path closely and deliberately. Try it as many times as you think necessary. Then ask yourself alone, one question . . . Does this path have a heart? If it does, the path is good; if it doesn't it is of no use."
